tatami-goodsを紹介しています。

オリジナル商品の畳の部分は本来畳のサイズに
育ち切らなかった90ｃｍ以下のイグサや、
畳製作時の端材を活用しています。
革も端材やトコ革を無駄無く活用しています。

プロダクトに使用される
畳（イ草）部分は、本来、畳表の製作に使えず
廃棄されていた短い国産イ草を活用しています。

（廃棄されていた理由は短いと言うだけです。）

このプロダクトは
品質の良いイグサを生産する国内の
イ草農家さんに、新しい畳表の活用方法を
発表する企画でもあります。

又、今まで廃棄されていたイ草を商品として
活用出来ると言う事で、イ草農家さんの利益確保の
少しでもお役に立ちたい、最終的には、減り行く
国内のイグサ農家さんの後継者問題にも貢献したい。
と言う強い思いがございます。

現状では、日本国内で流通している畳表の80％以上が
中国からの輸入品です。

日本のイ草の香りや、触り心地よさを知って頂くために

新しいデザインやライフスタイルを提案したいと思っています

Established in Taisho 15, this is an introduction to tatami goods, crafted by a fourth generation artisan of Aoyagi tatami store.

For a tatami mat of original size, the length of rush used is cut to 90cm or less.
We utilize the excess material produced from this process.
Leather is also efficiently used without wasting scraps.
Tatami (soft rush), was not originally used in the making of straw matting.
These shorter rushes are now used instead of being discarded.
These products are made with good quality rush by domestic grass farmers, and there are further plans to develop novel tatami products for practical applications.

Furthermore, the excess material is generally discarded until now. We desire to help, even a little, by reducing wastage. This is advantageous for grass farmers to maintain their profits. We feel strongly about the problems faced by rush farmers in the country and wish to contribute.

At present, more than 80% of the tatami mats distributed in Japan are import goods from China.

In order to appreciate the fragrance of Japanese rushes and feel the difference in quality, we seek to create new designs and a lifestyle around this.
